Magics open season with a win!

     The Barberton Magics girls softball season opened the 2009 softball season with a 13- 0 victory over Akron Kenmore.  Amber Thomas a Junior pitcher for the Magics threw her first no-hitter in a varsity softball game. She struck out seven, walked four and hit two batters in a five inning game. She got some outstanding defense from the players behind her, with Liz Cline, Dana Harshbarger and Lindsay Hone turning a double play in the 3rd inning.
     The Magics hit the ball and where lead by the following players: Junior Liz Cline, Junior Dana Harshbarger, Senior Kelcie Cuckler, Senior Lindsay Hone, Freshmen Christlin Cline and Senior Morgan Sperling. The Magics scored four runs in the first inning and six runs in the second inning. Liz Cline started the game with a double into left field, she was driven in by Dana Harshbarger with a single and a rbi. Kelcie Cuckler got on with a single and then Lindsay Hone brought in by Harshbarger and Cuckler with a double and two rbi's.
     The Jay-vee team defeated Kenmore jv's by the score of 9-6. Both teams are in action on Thursday, April 2nd vs. Akron Garfield. The varsity is away and the jv's play at home both are 4:15 P.M. starts.
