Seniors Finish Their Careers

Posted Wednesday, May 20, 2009 by Richard Prunty
We want to take this time to thank the following seniors for the part they played in Barberton Softball the past four years. The seniors are: Kelcie Cuckler (3rd Base), Samantha Edgar (Catcher), Lindsay Hone (First Base), and Morgan Sperling (Outfield).
Kelcie Cuckler will be a four year letter winner and was selected 1st Team All-Suburban her freshmen year. One of her highlights was last year when she hit a homerun versus Medina Highland. She has played on the underclass tournament for a select team from N E Ohio. She recievied a half scholarship in both Volleyball and Softball from Pikeville College in Kentucky.
Samantha Edgar has been our starting catcher for the past two years and has done an outstanding job of handling our pitchers her senior year. She has become a very good slap hitter and her batting average shows the results. Sam as her teammates and coaches call her, will attend Bowling Green State University this coming Fall.
Lindsay Hone is a four year letterwinner. Her ideal position is in the outfield where she played the last three years. This year she played first base and did an outstandin job. Her hitting approved greatly this year and her batting average shows her improvement. She had seven doubles this past season.
Morgan Sperling is a four year letterwinner and a starting center fielder the last three years. She had the misfortune of having a serious injury from basketball that carried over into the softball season. She tore her ACL in our third game versus Woodridge. She was missed in the line-up and in center field. Her ability to switch hit and put the ball in play was something that she worked very hard at.
These four young ladies left a mark on the program at Barberton High School. They always gave their all and it was appreciated by both their teammates and coaches. We wish you nothing with the best of luck as you continue on your travels into adulthood.
